Ever since the Los Angeles Lakers received the No. 2 overall pick in the upcoming 2017 NBA Draft, it’s been assumed that the team will draft former UCLA point guard Lonzo Ball after the Celtics take Markelle Fultz, the consensus top pick in the class.
According to the Huffington Post’s Jordan Schultz, though, the Lakers “would pass on Lonzo Ball if the NBA Draft was today,” citing a source inside the organization.
On Monday’s episode of “Undisputed”, Skip Bayless, Shannon Sharpe and Chris Broussard reacted to the report, and broke down the Lakers’ intentions.
All indications are the Lakers still want Lonzo Ball
“I’ve been calling around the league, talking to people to see what they’re hearing about this. I have not heard that [the Lakers] would pass on Lonzo Ball. I’m being told they do really like him. There are some people, I’ve heard, there that aren’t that high on him.
“A lot of people around the league think this is a smokescreen. This also could be ‘look, let’s not make it look like we’re just going to do what LaVar Ball wants,’ like he’s controlling this whole situation.
“They do like Josh Jackson, from what I hear. De’Aaron Fox is really moving up on a lot of people’s boards.”
